Testimonials

Checked in and had a look around the wine bar which was tastefully decorated in a 50′s theme with Ratpack paintings and 50′s themed cocktail list. Try the James Dean! Wine list was impressive and presented great value. James has some great knowledge of the wines on the list and can talk at length about each one. As a cynical ex-pat, when I think of tapas in Mullingar I cringe. Couldn’t be more wrong. Tapas were on a par with an upmarket Barcelona Tapas Bar.

Staff were friendly yet not intrusive. Had good craic with the lads in their new bar and owners bent over backwards to help!

Was here for family meal a few weeks back and out of about 20 extended family members everyone had nothing but praise for the service and food. Best of luck with the new venture folks and thank you for everything!

Stayed September 2011, travelled on business. Rob A, September 2011

“Staff are really lovely and attentive. Very clean and spacious rooms. Modern restaurant and bar with very good food. Best breakfast in town and available all day so sleep as late as you like. No pressure to check out on time. Very relaxed friendly hotel. I am coming back soon.” Gary, Kensworth, UK, July 2010

“Austin Friar was a complete revelation – high quality, high spec hotel at a bargain price. The bedroom size was enormous and so your room felt like an apartment. I gather that the hotel has only been open since November 2009 after major renovations. The owners are to be congratulated on creating a boutique hotel feel with top and quality yet offering such competitive rates.” Jim, Belfast, June 2010

“James and Kerry (the proprietors) made us very welcome. The food was fantastic and cooked fresh to order (the breakfast was amazing). Our room was spotless and very roomy and comfortable. The hotel was located right in the centre of town with excellent shopping and easy access to local points of interest. Entertainment was traditional and very enjoyable. This hotel would be ideal for families, couples, and for those on business trips. I would highly recommend a stay in this modern and well run establishment.” Audrey, Kent, UK, June 2010
